New York Sheep And Wool Festival

I haven't been posting for such a long time. I was so busy this summer that I really couldn't keep up with it. I was trying to get money together to full fill one of my longest dreams to attend the New York sheep and wool festival in October.
I wanted to attend a felting workshop there and dive into a weekend full off sheep and wool.

Everyone was asking me why I wanted to attend a felting workshop since I've been felting for over 15 years, but it is always inspiring to see other teachers how they do things differently and how they teach. Plus I do not have much experience in felting with merino roving. With my figures I use short fibers as in merino bat. It would be a hassle building these figures with merino roving.
I just use it for their hair or as a finishing touch.
So I really had fun learning that to felt a bag with merino roving is not such a difficult and long lasting thing than I thought it would be. Cynthia Mollenkopf from artifelts was a wonderful teacher.

I definitely going to be back next year.  Here are some impressions:

Beautiful Hudson Valley!

Sheep getting ready for the show!

Even with a blow dryer :)

This sugar maple tree is so gorgeous!

This is the bag I made in the workshop!

I entered in the competition for small wet felted item.

" The little Prince" / "Der kleine Prinz"

"It is only with the heart one can see rightly.

what is essential is invisible to the eye."

The little Prince

This is going to be a mobilé for a little new born baby boy.
I know the fox is not living on the planet from the little prince but I just liked the idea of it.
I just hope the lamb doesn't mind:)

Strawberry fields forever!

Oh it has been quite some time since I posted here on my blog.
Since I started Instagram it is so easy just to upload a picture and be able to show what I am working on. The quality of the pictures are of course not the same since they are made just with my phone. But if you are intrested to see some of the  steps my figures have to go through
just go and look there :)
I have been very busy with more custom orders.
Yesterday I recieved a really sweet one from my son Moritz who is 21years old.
He asked me if I could felt a flower fairy for his boss.
It is her birthday on monday and he had shown my work sometime and she liked it so he thaught he would give her one as a present.
We both decided on a strawberry fairy.
I was really touched by his asking for it, often I think my children do not appriciate what I  am doing or understand the passion I have for felt since our whole living room is full of wool and sometimes their might be even some fluff in the dinner :)

While making the little fairy I had the idea of the little fairy boy, but that one is  just for me.
It goes on my little nature table in the kitchen;)

In my strawberry field in the garden!
